Starting Small, with Purpose
At Millennia Coffee Co., we offer three carefully curated roast profiles from distinct origins in our drip coffee bags. You might be wondering—why just three? And how did we choose them?
This is our story—a journey through countless cups of coffee, taste tests, and a clear vision of delivering flavour with focus.
Coffee: A World of Taste in Every Origin
Coffee isn’t just a drink—it’s an experience. From the bold to the delicate, each bean tells a different story depending on where and how it’s grown. Arabica beans especially are known for their nuanced flavour profiles, shaped by factors like altitude, climate, and processing methods.
Why Drip Coffee Bags and Why Arabica?
Drip coffee bags offer a clean, controlled brew—perfect for showcasing the subtleties of Arabica beans. While the format is versatile enough to suit different coffee styles, we found that it’s especially suited to specialty Arabica from different origins.
Our Selection Process: From Countless Cups to Three Core Profiles
We tasted a wide range of Arabica beans from different regions and roast profiles, and while the options were abundant, we noticed that the flavours often fell into three broad categories:
-
Bright and acidic
-
Floral with balanced fruity notes
- Bold and bittersweet
We also learned how the chosen roast profile complements beans from different origins, depending on which characteristics of the origin you'd like to highlight:
- Light Roast – Showcasing the Bean’s Natural Flavours
Light roasts keep the original flavours of the bean front and centre. These coffees are often bright, fruity, and floral, with a clean, crisp finish.
- Medium Roast – Balanced and Sweet
Medium roasts offer a balanced experience. They preserve some of the origin’s unique character, while adding sweetness and body. Acidity softens, and the flavours become a little warmer and rounder.
- Dark Roast – Bold and Full-Bodied
Dark roasts bring depth and richness to the forefront. They highlight chocolatey, nutty, and caramelised flavours, and tend to have lower acidity. Some of the bean’s finer details are toned down, but the result is a bold, comforting cup.
After extensive cupping and experimentation, we made our final selection based on both flavour clarity and versatility. Here’s what we chose:
-
Colombia – Light Roast
A light roast profile that showcases Colombia’s bright acidity, citrus notes, and fruit-forward complexity. This origin shines when brewed with care, delivering a crisp and refreshing cup.
-
Ethiopia – Medium Roast
Ethiopian beans are known for their floral, fruity elegance, showcasing a delicate balance of flavours. Our medium roast strikes a balance—preserving its natural fruitiness while amplifying its subtle floral tones.
-
Brazil – Dark Roast
Brazil’s beans lend themselves well to deeper roasting. Our dark roast brings out their bittersweet chocolate and nutty richness, creating a bold, crowd-pleasing cup that’s comforting and full-bodied.
A Curated Spectrum of Taste
With these three origins, we believe we’ve captured a wide yet focused range of the coffee flavour wheel. Whether you're drawn to vibrant, fruity acidity or smooth, robust depth, there’s something here for every palate—and for those who love to explore.
It’s a simplified yet purposeful selection that offers our customers a variety of flavour experiences with clarity and intention.
A Note on Temperature: Cool, Cold, and Surprising
An interesting learning we made during our many tasting sessions: our light and medium roast profiles are especially enjoyable when served cool or cold. As the temperature drops, layers of flavour are magnified—adding another dimension to the drinking experience, particularly with our Colombia and Ethiopia drip coffees.
More Than Just a Brew—An Invitation to Explore
At Millennia Coffee Co., we don’t aim to cover every possibility. Instead, we chose to be intentional—to start small, but meaningful. Our three roast profiles offer a thoughtfully curated entry point into the diverse world of specialty Arabica coffee, made accessible anytime, anywhere through our drip coffee bags.
Every cup is an invitation to explore, to savour, and to discover your preferred flavour journey.
